    This week well-being tips:

Not sure how to increase your daily activity daily? Here is one way -

Taking the stairs instead of the elevator is a great way to increase your physical activity levels daily. Not only does this simple choice boost your cardiovascular health, but it also improves muscle tone and burns calories. Plus, it's an easy way to fit exercise into a busy schedule without needing extra time set aside for workouts.

Incorporating short bursts of activity throughout your day can make a significant difference in your overall fitness. You might also consider parking further from the entrance when you go shopping or taking a brisk walk during your lunch break. These small changes add up and contribute to a healthier lifestyle.

Remember, every step counts towards your well-being. By making conscious decisions to move more, you can enhance your energy levels, improve your mood, and support your long-term health goals. Let's embrace these opportunities to stay active and enjoy the benefits they bring to our lives.

From Pastor John E. Girton, Jr.

Governor Mike Braun’s recent directive to halt Medicaid service advertising in Indiana is a troubling development for many families, especially those like mine who are part of the “sandwich generation,” caring for both children and aging parents. This policy not only threatens the health security of vulnerable populations but also exacerbates the challenges faced by caregivers of dementia patients.

In Indiana, Medicaid serves as a critical lifeline for numerous residents, particularly within marginalized communities. Data indicates that Black and Hispanic/Latino Hoosiers are disproportionately represented among Medicaid enrollees. According to the Indiana Medicaid Enrollment Dashboard, these communities rely heavily on Medicaid for their healthcare needs. Curtailing outreach and advertising efforts is likely to deepen existing disparities, leaving many without essential health coverage.

The burden on family caregivers in Indiana is substantial. The Alzheimer’s Association reports that 216,000 family caregivers in the state provide unpaid care to individuals with Alzheimer’s or other dementias, amounting to 322 million hours of care valued at $5.1 billion. This immense responsibility often leads to emotional, physical, and financial strain.

My personal journey mirrors these statistics. A year ago, my father, who suffers from dementia, was dropped from Medicaid. This loss of coverage forced me to leave a six-figure job to care for him full-time, as his memory care costs exceeded our financial means. Balancing his care with the needs of my high school-aged child has been an overwhelming challenge. The lack of Medicaid support has not only strained our finances but also taken a toll on our mental and emotional well-being.

Governor Braun’s approach to reducing Medicaid enrollment by stopping advertising and tightening eligibility criteria fails to consider the real-life implications for families like mine. Instead of making cuts, the administration should focus on understanding and addressing the needs of the growing population of aging Hoosiers. This includes tackling the high costs of services and supplies essential for dementia care. Removing health resources from those who need them most is not a solution; it is a step backward that will only increase the burden on families and the healthcare system.

It is imperative that policymakers recognize the invaluable role of Medicaid in supporting caregivers and their loved ones. By ensuring access to necessary services and support, we can uphold the health and dignity of all Indiana residents, regardless of their economic status or racial background.

     Network, Collaborate, Duplicate

For creatives, balancing work and family often feels like juggling flaming torches while walking a tightrope. Between chasing deadlines and bedtime stories, it’s easy to feel like you're falling short somewhere. However, applying the principles of Network, Collaborate, and Duplicate can bring harmony to both worlds. These strategies help streamline work while fostering support and connection, ensuring that neither creativity nor family life suffers.

Network: Build a Tribe (Join The Network)

Start with Network: Build a tribe that understands your journey—both professionally and personally. Surround yourself with fellow creatives who have navigated similar challenges and prioritize work-life balance. Share resources, exchange tips, and provide mutual support to lighten the load. Participate in events or organizations, whether emerging or established, to foster connections and expand your network. Volunteering in such spaces not only builds relationships but also creates opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Pro Tip: Leverage online platforms or local meetups to expand your creative and family-friendly circles.

    Collaborate: Write the Vision

Collaboration isn’t just for projects; it’s a lifestyle. Involve your family in your creative pursuits where possible. Let your kids help with brainstorming (they have the wildest ideas!), or share your latest work with your partner to gain their input. On the flip side, collaborate with other creatives to share workloads and generate ideas.

Pro Tip: Find someone who complements your skills so you can focus on what you do best while they fill in the gaps.

    Duplicate: Walk It Out

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time. Automate and replicate processes where possible. Whether it’s meal planning for the family or designing templates for your creative business, duplication is your secret weapon. Use tools like online schedulers, email templates, or content calendars to reduce mental load.

Pro Tip: Build a family schedule that includes a time for creative aspirations, ensuring everyone in the family reps from the balance.  That way, everyone’s rhythm aligns.

    Final Thoughts:

Balancing work and family isn’t without its challenges. It’s about tapping into God’s purpose and integrating a plan for collective success of your top priorities. By embracing the Network, Collaborate, Duplicate framework, you can build without sacrificing the moments that matter most.

At a recent Boss Up event in Indy, the legendary Freeway Rick Ross shared powerful insights on leveraging credit that truly shifted my perspective. When I mentioned, "I'm a risk taker," he replied, "Credit doesn’t work like that." We quickly analyzed my credit profile, and by the end of the weekend, my understanding of credit had evolved significantly.

The opportunities before me have expanded tremendously because I prioritize gathering expertise and actively listening. Boss Up is an invaluable platform for networking and asking pointed questions that directly relate to your field. In this article, I will outline the basics of credit that I can share with you.

Join us to meet financial consultants who can guide you in making savvy money moves. The knowledge we've gained about investment, security, and liability has been transformative, with great projections and I’m excited to pass it on to you will embrace it. Here is the boss basics to credit. Please share.

    1. **Credit Score: Minimum of 680 (700-720 is excellent)**

A score of 680 is the baseline for approval, while 700-720 indicates low risk, improving chances for better terms.

    2. **Number of Accounts: 6-10 (10 is optimal)**

Having 6 to 10 open accounts shows experience with credit management. Ten accounts demonstrate well-rounded financial responsibility.

    3. **Credit Cards: At least 2 from major banks**

Two credit cards from major banks (e.g., Chase, Citi) enhance credibility and signal financial stability to lenders.

    4. **Credit Utilization: Keep usage under 20%**

Using less than 20% of your available credit indicates responsible management and lowers perceived risk.

    5. **Credit Inquiries: Fewer than 3**

Limiting hard inquiries to under 3 in a short period protects your credit score and suggests you're not overly seeking credit.

    6. **Payment History: No late payments in the past 24 months**

A clean payment history demonstrates reliability; lenders prefer borrowers with no late payments in the last two years.

    7. **No Derogatory Marks**

Avoid bankruptcies, charge-offs, or collections to maintain a healthy credit profile. These marks significantly impact approval chances.
